Message from the Head Teacher

At Eastwood we are ambitious for all our children and want each of them to learn from a wide range of memorable first hand experiences in their time with us. Many of our children attend Eastwood for much of their first 4 or 5 years and we aim to ensure in this time that they continually make good rates of progress and are ready for primary school. There is plenty of play and fun and children learn through a wide and stimulating curriculum. We recognise that wellbeing and achievement are completely inter-dependent and that we need to work in close partnership with parents to achieve our ambitions for your child.

We aim to provide the children of Roehampton with a fun, caring, playful and inclusive experience whether they are coming to us as babies in our day nursery, as young children to our day nursery and nursery school or dropping in to our wide range of children’s centre activities provided from our main site, our outreach community bases and even the grounds of the local university for our famous ‘Forest School’ programme.

Children at Eastwood learn through play, movement, relationships with other people, first hand experiences, conversations with other children and with adults: being physically active, observing the world around them and being taught new skills and new ideas. Each child is unique and we aim to work with you as their parent or carer to find out about them and make sure we provide a programme that meets their needs and helps them to make excellent progress in their time with us.

Eastwood is a community nursery and children’s centre which the governors, staff and partners manage on behalf of the babies, young children, parents and carers in Roehampton. We want you to feel at home and that you belong at Eastwood. There are facilities to make a drink, relax and chat with other parents and (most importantly) places for children to play under the supervision of their parent or carer. So come on in! Eastwood is your Centre!

We believe that young children and their families in Roehampton deserve the best services and the best early education and childcare, and we work with partners and parents to provide just that. We have high aspirations for our children because we know that parents and carers want the very best for them.
