Message from the Chair
The Governors at Eastwood have traditionally had a close and effective relationship with the school and centre.
Governors are there to be a ‘critical friend’ – to provide strategic leadership and accountability. They set the aims and objectives for Eastwood, and the policies and targets for achieving those aims and objectives. They monitor and evaluate the progress the school and Centre are making.
The full Governing Body meets three times a year, and there are subcommittees that focus on finance, personnel and achievement, which have their own separate meetings. Governors are welcome to visit at any time and report on what they see.
If you are over 18 years of age you could become a governor. You don’t need special qualifications and there are no particular requirements, other than a willingness to give time to the role and a capacity for working well with other people.
If you would like further information, please get in touch with the head teacher.
Professor Adam Ockleford
The Governing Body
As a maintained nursery school Eastwood has a full Governing Body that meets each term to review standards and progress and to make key decisions. The Governors provide the Day Nursery as part of a community service and run the Children’s Centre under a service level agreement with Wandsworth Council.
If you would like to contact the Chair or any of the Governors please contact the nursery school on email@example.com or 020 8876 3976 or mark your correspondence for the attention of the Governors and it will be passed on without delay. If you have a complaint or concern then please contact the headteacher in the first instance in line with our complaints procedure.

Curriculum and Achievement
This committee looks at the standard of education and care we provide and develops policy in relation to the curriculum- the range of experiences, activities, knowledge, skills and attitudes we aim to provide for the children. The committee looks at how well children overall and groups of children at Eastwood make progress in their time with us.
The Personnel Committee ensures that Eastwood is appropriately staffed and that proper policies and procedures are in place. The Committee helps to ensure that Eastwood recruits high quality people with the correct checks and processes in place.
The Finance Committee ensures that Eastwood manages finances appropriately. It agrees the income, charging and pay policies and monitors expenditure carefully ensuring resources are used to benefit the children and community.
