// Eastwood Friends Group

A lively and committed group of parents and friends come together to form the Eastwood Friends’ Group- a registered charity. The group works hard to raise funds to support children’s learning and provide opportunities for parents to get together. The group will be delighted to receive any new ideas or help you can give with the ongoing work of making quality provision for our children and their families. Please look out for notices about ‘EFG’ meetings and come and help the group with its important work.

// Informal Get-Togethers

Regular coffee mornings and Parents’ Forum meetings are held. Meetings take place between 9.30 and 11.00 a.m. and parents and friends are invited in for coffee and discussion on a range of subjects. Look out for these opportunities which will be advertised in Newsletters and on the Parents’ information Board in the Reception area.

Please Send
• Spare clothes
• Pants, vests, socks & trousers to help with messy play & toilet training.
• Boots for outdoor activities and Forest School trips.

Please Keep At Home
• Toys and sweets! These cannot be named easily and cause much tension and rivalry between children.

Please ensure that anything your child wears or brings to the centre is clearly named.

Contributions
We are delighted when you can support our centre fund. Donations of £1 a week help us provided additional activities for the children which otherwise would be impossible. Please note that this is a request not a requirement!

// Food In School

Mealtimes at the Centre
Families receiving our childcare service have included in their fees the cost of children’s main meals and snacks. Families receiving free education for their child may purchase a cooked mid-day meal at a cost of £2.10. Cheques should be made payable to Eastwood Nursery School with your name and address printed on the back. Children attending Day Nursery have their meals charged in thier monthly invoice.

Free Meals
If you receive Income Support or Job Seekers’ Allowance, your child may be eligible for free school meals. An application form is available from the School Administrator. All children at the Centre are given an appropriate amount of time to eat lunch, sitting with a small supervised group to encourage sociable eating and good table manners. Any child having particular problems with eating and drinking will be given help.

// Activities

Off-Site Activity
We consider it important for children to have opportunity to leave the Centre in order to learn something about the wider world in which they live. Regular trips are made to the local shops and to the beautiful grounds of Froebel College, the Library and surrounding area.

We like to go further afield sometimes and small groups of 6-8 children make a weekly trip to parts of Richmond Park and the local common as part of our Forest School project.

Trips to places of interest out of school will be included in our programme of off-site activities. As with all trips, careful risk assessments are made before travel. We are always delighted to have parents with us for these special occasions.

Charging
All learning experiences within the free education entitlement available for three and four year olds are provided without additional charge to parents.

Equipment and Materials
No compulsory charge will be made of parents whose children are receiving free education except where children are making something special for you with your prior agreement.
